Find us on the corner

We are the white brick building on the corner of Mead Street, with the yellow awning and the door set right into the corner. Two signs over the door: one for the restaurant, one for the market. Both of them are us.

La Tapatía at 1951 Mead Street in Racine: a white brick corner building with a yellow awning and the entrance door set into the corner
1951 Mead Street. The door is on the corner.

You cannot really miss it.

What to look for

  • A white painted brick building on the corner, one story
  • A yellow awning over the entrance
  • The door is on the corner itself, at an angle, not on either street
  • Two signs above it: La Tapatía Restaurant and La Tapatía Súper Mercado
  • 1951 painted on the wall beside the door
  • A green fire hydrant on the corner out front

Walk through that one door and you are in both places at once. The dining room is on your left, the market is straight through the archway.

Sit down and stay

There is a dining room

Most people who order from us have never come inside and eaten. It is a small room, only a few tables, and it is kept clean. Racine families have been sitting down in it for years. Order at the counter, take a table, and eat while it is still hot.
